The CRDP participated in a workshop launched by the National Committee for UNESCO and the UNESCO Office in Beirut on the implementation of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage (Traditions, inherited forms of culture, social practices, ceremonies, ceremonial events, knowledge and skills associated with the production of traditional handicrafts).
Its objective was capacity-building for the implementation of the 2030 Convention for Safeguarding the Cultural Heritage and others. Mrs. Seydé Francis, Expert in Sociology at CRDP participated in the three-day panel discussions.
Ms. Francis presented the recommendations of the Working Group and emphasized on the importance of spreading awareness about intangible heritage as being part of national identity and collective memory, including them in the curriculum and educational programs, preparing training materials in relation, training teachers and encouraging learners to implement heritage-related works.
Finally, the delegation called on the concerned ministries to adopt national policies for safeguarding the intangible heritage.
