On Wednesday 25th November 2015, the Science Department at CERD called for an environmental emergency situation. A meeting regarding garbage disposal was held at the CERD Printing Press in Sin El-Fil. It was attended by instructors from the Faculty of Education at the Lebanese University, educational inspectors, trainers from different regional resource centers and education counselors from all subject areas.

Following the national anthem, the participants stood for a one minute pause honoring the innocent martyrs that are the victims of terrorism across the world.

Then Head of Science Department, Mrs. Ibtihaj Saleh presented the National Plan for garbage disposal.

The expert, Dr. Naji Kodieh made a presentation highlighting current suggestions for the best environmentally safe and sound solution for this problem which starts with waste sorting from the site and then into sanitary landfills. The participants commented and intervened and the presenter responded regarding the need for a widespread culture of environmental care.

As a follow up, the president of the Lebanese Environment Movement Mr. Paul Abi Rached, intervened presenting a work plan for teachers.

In addition, the audience were entertained by music that is an integral part of curricular and extra curricula activities.

All participants received a file which includes the national plan, presentations, suggestions for solutions and contact details for some recycling centers.
