The President of the Center for Educational Research and Development Dr. Nada Oweijane has sponsored a 3 days’ workshop about the provision of the elements of school well-being, in collaboration with Reseau Canope represented by the French expert on school well-being affairs Dr. Caroline Veltcheff, with the participation of the educational expert Dr. Suzanne Abou Rjeili and the support of the French Cultural Center, represented by Ms. Carole Forja, under the direct supervision of the Attaché to the affairs of educational cooperation at the French Embassy Mrs. Rachida Duma.
Dr. Veltcheff presented the French and International experience in this context, and discussed the mechanisms and methodology that can be followed in the context of working on a general framework for school well-being in Lebanon, and the practical plan to achieve this strategy.
The coordinator of the joint academic department Mrs. Rana Abdallah also explained the areas that CERD has started working on. Additionally, the experts in the green schools, the school construction engineering and the agricultural engineering have also presented the studies that were prepared in that context.
Dr. Oweijane has emphasized on the importance of strengthening the school well-being in the educational institutions to form a pleasant and comfortable environment for learners, through good, fair and equal opportunities for all as well as create diverse activities and green spaces that could help escalate the well-being of the apprentice.
The school is a place to live, communicate, create strong friendships and build diverse and ongoing partnerships; therefore school well-being is an integrated set of elements that make school not only a place of learning, but also an pleasurable place to live in.
